GdS Milan in Deep Trouble: Five Key Areas Needing Urgent Attention Ahead of Torino Clash

FolioPitch.com – 11 August 2026 | AC Milan‘s pre-season campaign has been marred by a series of concerning performances, with the Rossoneri suddenly finding themselves in deep trouble two weeks before their highly anticipated Serie A opener against Torino. In a scathing assessment, La Gazzetta dello Sport has highlighted five key areas that need immediate attention from new coach Ruben Amorim.

The first area of concern is the team’s pressing strategy, which has been disjointed and ineffective in the three friendlies played so far. In contrast to the high-intensity pressing display against Inter, Milan’s press against Chelsea was lackluster, with the team struggling to win the ball back in the opponent’s half.

The attack has also been a major issue, with the Rossoneri failing to create any meaningful scoring opportunities against Chelsea. The team’s inability to serve Francesco Camarda in the first half was a major concern, and even the introduction of Nkunku and Ramos in the second half failed to spark any life into the attack.

The defense has been another area of concern, with Milan continuing to concede goals through individual errors, poor positioning, and poor runs. The team’s rearguard has been breached far too easily, and Amorim’s new tactics have not yet shown any improvement in this regard.

The wings have also been a problem, with Milan lacking suitable players to provide quality in both phases. While Alexis Saelemaekers has been the standout performer on the flanks, the team’s other options have struggled to make an impact.

Lastly, the team’s mentality has been a major concern, with Milan failing to react to the first goal and showing a flat line for the rest of the second half. The team’s lack of resilience and inability to come back from a deficit have been a worrying trend in the pre-season.

With the Serie A opener against Torino just around the corner, Amorim and his team have a lot of work to do to address these key areas. The pressure is mounting, and it remains to be seen whether the Rossoneri can turn things around and get their season back on track.
