Gabbia Joins Growing List of Milan Absentees for Manchester United Test: Rossoneri Struggle Ahead of Pre-Season Friendly

FolioPitch.com – 14 August 2026 | The pre-season friendly between AC Milan and Manchester United is just around the corner, but the Rossoneri are facing a daunting task with a growing list of absentees. The latest addition to the list is Matteo Gabbia, who has been ruled out due to an ankle injury.

According to reports, Gabbia has suffered an impact injury to his ankle, and will therefore miss the upcoming match against Manchester United. This is a significant blow to Milan, as they were already expecting to be without several key players.

Among the absentees are Fikayo Tomori, David Odogu, and Youssouf Fofana, who are all expected to be sold by the club. Rafael Leao, Santiago Gimenez, and Pervis Estupinan are also on the fringes and could be moved on if appropriate offers come in.

Christian Pulisic has also not returned to first-team action yet this summer, leaving Milan with a significant shortage of numbers at centre-back. Mario Gila is back with the squad, though, and may have to be thrown in from the start given the circumstances.

The Rossoneri will have to do without Gabbia, Tomori, and Odogu, which is a significant blow to their chances of success against Manchester United. Amorim will have to rely on his other players to deliver, but it remains to be seen how they will cope with the absence of their key players.

Despite the challenges ahead, Milan are expected to give it their all against Manchester United. The pre-season friendly is an opportunity for the club to test their mettle and prepare for the upcoming season.

The match is set to take place on Saturday in Wroclaw, Poland, and fans are eagerly anticipating the outcome.
