Fiorentina Target Niclas Fullkrug as Low-Cost Reinforcement After Milan Struggles

FolioPitch.com – 26 June 2026 | The rumor mill is heating up in Serie A as Fiorentina show concrete interest in West Ham outcast Niclas Fullkrug after the German striker‘s disappointing loan spell at Milan. According to multiple Italian sources, the Viola are weighing a summer move for the 33-year-old, who could be available for a bargain fee of around €3 million following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.

The phrase Fiorentina interested in West Ham outcast Fullkrug after Milan flop perfectly encapsulates the narrative. Fullkrug joined Milan on loan last summer with high expectations, having impressed at Borussia Dortmund and with the German national team. However, the 2025-26 campaign turned into a nightmare: he managed just one goal in 18 appearances across all competitions, often struggling with fitness and form. Milan decided not to exercise their purchase option, sending him back to West Ham.

Now, with the Hammers relegated, Fullkrug’s future is uncertain. West Ham are open to selling, and his reduced price tag has caught the attention of several Italian clubs. Venezia have been in talks with his representatives for weeks, hoping to keep him in Italy. But Fiorentina interested in West Ham outcast Fullkrug after Milan flop represents an even more intriguing possibility. The Florence-based club are in the market for a striker, especially if Roberto Piccoli departs this summer. Piccoli, who joined Fiorentina last season, has attracted interest from other Serie A sides, and the Viola are preparing for his potential exit.

For Fiorentina, Fullkrug offers a mix of experience and physicality at a remarkably low cost. At 33, he may not be a long-term solution, but he could provide immediate depth in attack. His Champions League pedigree—including a runner-up finish with Dortmund in 2024—shows he can perform on big stages. New Fiorentina coach Fabio Grosso, who took over in February, will need to assess whether the German fits his tactical system. Grosso prefers a fluid front line with pace and movement, but Fullkrug’s strength and aerial ability could offer a different dimension.

The potential move is also financially straightforward. West Ham’s relegation means they are shedding wages and willing to negotiate. A fee in the region of €3 million would be a steal for a player of Fullkrug’s caliber, even considering his recent struggles. Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Pradè is known for finding value in the market, and this deal fits his modus operandi.

However, competition is fierce. Venezia have already established contact with Fullkrug’s agency, Roof, and are confident of securing his signature. The Venetian club, newly promoted back to Serie A, see him as a key piece for their survival bid. But Fiorentina’s allure—playing in a historic city with European ambitions—might sway the player. Additionally, Fullkrug’s desire to prove himself in Italy after a failed Milan stint could motivate him to choose a club where he’d get regular playing time.

Reports from Il Tirreno, cited by CalcioMercato, suggest that Fiorentina interested in West Ham outcast Fullkrug after Milan flop could materialize into a formal offer soon. The Viola are monitoring the situation closely, and a decision is expected within the coming weeks, as the summer transfer window opens.

At this stage, it’s a waiting game. Fullkrug’s representatives are exploring all options, and Fiorentina are weighing whether to pull the trigger. For a club that prides itself on smart recruitment, signing a proven international striker for a minimal fee is exactly the kind of move that can elevate the squad without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, Niclas Fullkrug’s career has hit a crossroads. After a failed stint at Milan and West Ham’s relegation, he needs a fresh start. Fiorentina interested in West Ham outcast Fullkrug after Milan flop offers a plausible redemption arc in the heart of Tuscany. Whether the Viola can fend off Venezia and convince Fullkrug that Florence is the right destination remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the German striker’s next move could determine the trajectory of his twilight years, and Serie A fans will be watching closely.
