According to reports from MilanVibes, AC Milan are again looking at Lecce defender Tiago Gabriel as a potential reinforcement for their backline under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Gabriel, a Portuguese centre-back, has been on Milan’s radar for some time, but now the interest appears to have intensified. The scouting department remains convinced of his qualities after watching him perform consistently for Lecce in Serie A. They have recommended him to fellow Portuguese Ruben Amorim, who is tasked with reshaping Milan’s defence. Adding fuel to the fire, Gabriel recently joined super-agent Jorge Mendes’ agency Gestifute. This move could provide Milan a preferential lane in negotiations, given the club’s history of high-profile deals with Mendes, such as the €70m transfer of Goncalo Ramos from PSG. The connection may smooth the path for a deal, but Gabriel is not the only name on the list.

Milan’s analysts are working closely with Amorim to identify several options that align with his style of play. They are evaluating costs, suitability, and how each player fits into Amorim’s preferred three-man defensive system. The MilanVibes Lecce star a rekindled flame for Milan as scouts propose him to Amorim is a clear indication that Gabriel remains a viable candidate, even if he is not currently the top priority. Other defenders are being assessed, and Amorim will first evaluate the current squad to determine who stays and who leaves.

At present, Milan have five central defenders, including teenager David Odogu. With Amorim’s system requiring three in the back, numerical reinforcement may be necessary. Gabriel, who is expected to leave Lecce this summer, offers a blend of Serie A experience and Portuguese familiarity that could appeal to the new coach.

In conclusion, the MilanVibes Lecce star a rekindled flame for Milan as scouts propose him to Amorim is more than just a rumour—it reflects a strategic approach by Milan’s scouting department to provide Amorim with trusted, thoroughly scouted options. While Gabriel is not yet the leading candidate, his presence on the shortlist highlights the club’s commitment to building a defence tailored to the new manager’s vision. The coming weeks will reveal whether this rekindled flame turns into a full transfer.
