Belgium and Senegal Unveil Official Line-ups for World Cup Round of 32 Clash

FolioPitch.com – 01 July 2026 | The World Cup Round of 32 Belgium vs Senegal official line-ups have been announced, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter at Lumen Field in Seattle. Both teams aim to secure a spot in the last 16, with the winner facing either the USA or Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia has made a surprising tactical choice, deploying Charles De Ketelaere as a false nine. The Atalanta star, who impressed in Serie A this season, will lead the attack ahead of Napoli’s Romelu Lukaku, who starts on the bench. Kevin De Bruyne, despite a challenging first season at Napoli, orchestrates the midfield alongside Youri Tielemans and Hans Vanaken. The defense features Serie A regulars like Timothy Castagne and Arthur Theate, with Thibaut Courtois in goal. Notably, Zeno Debast is absent due to a muscular injury.

Senegal, coached by Aliou Cissé, faces a last-minute setback as goalkeeper Edouard Mendy pulled out with an injury, forcing Yevhann Diouf to make his World Cup debut. The African champions field a strong lineup including Sadio Mané, Ismaïla Sarr, and Iliman Ndiaye in attack. The only Serie A representative in the squad, Assane Diao of Como, is expected to come off the bench. The defensive line is marshaled by Moussa Niakhaté and Pathé Ciss, with Mory Diaw stepping in as the emergency goalkeeper.

Belgium’s tournament has been inconsistent: they drew with Egypt and Iran before thrashing New Zealand 5-1. Senegal, meanwhile, lost narrowly to France and Norway but bounced back with a 5-0 demolition of Iraq. Both teams will be eager to find consistency in this knockout fixture.

The World Cup Round of 32 Belgium vs Senegal official line-ups highlight a wealth of Serie A talent, with seven players from the Italian league involved. Belgium’s depth includes Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers as substitutes, while Senegal relies on experienced campaigners like Kalidou Koulibaly and Nicolas Jackson available from the bench.

This match is crucial for both nations. Belgium, ranked among the favorites, must deliver after a lackluster group stage. Senegal, the reigning African champions, hope to replicate their 2022 heroics but face a tough test without their first-choice goalkeeper.

In conclusion, the World Cup Round of 32 Belgium vs Senegal official line-ups promise a captivating battle. Belgium’s tactical flexibility and Senegal’s resilience make this a must-watch encounter. The winner moves one step closer to World Cup glory.
