Hull City and Ipswich Town Battle for Lazio Left-Back Luca Pellegrini

FolioPitch.com – 07 July 2026 | The transfer window is heating up, and the race for Lazio‘s Luca Pellegrini is drawing significant attention. Hull City Ipswich Town Vying for Departing Lazio Full-Back is a developing story that has captured the interest of Premier League scouts. Both newly promoted sides are keen to bolster their defensive options, and Pellegrini, a 27-year-old Italian left-back, has emerged as a prime target.

Pellegrini, a lifelong Lazio supporter, fulfilled his dream by joining the club in January 2023. After a promising start, he enjoyed a run in the starting lineup under Maurizio Sarri, displacing Nuno Tavares. However, the Portuguese regained his form later in the season, and Pellegrini found himself back on the bench. With only one year left on his contract, Lazio is looking to sell the full-back this summer, especially after the free transfer arrival of Alfonso Pedraza from Villarreal.

The interest is not limited to England; Spanish clubs Espanyol and Celta Vigo are also monitoring the situation. However, the allure of the Premier League could sway Pellegrini’s decision. Hull City Ipswich Town Vying for Departing Lazio Full-Back is a narrative that underscores the competitive nature of the transfer market. Both clubs are eager to secure a player with Serie A experience and a proven ability to contribute offensively—Pellegrini has registered seven assists and two goals in 90 appearances for Lazio, including a stunning strike that was arguably the club’s best goal last season.

Financially, Pellegrini’s salary of approximately €1.5 million per year is manageable for Premier League sides. Italian clubs like Como have been linked but have already filled their left-back slot, and others may struggle to meet his wages. This leaves the door open for English interest. Hull City Ipswich Town Vying for Departing Lazio Full-Back highlights the strategic moves by these clubs to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

From a tactical perspective, Pellegrini’s ability to support the attack while maintaining defensive discipline makes him an attractive option. He is comfortable in a back four or as a wing-back, offering versatility. His experience in Italian football, known for its tactical rigor, could be invaluable in the Premier League.

As negotiations progress, Pellegrini’s camp is reportedly weighing options. The player is eager for regular playing time, which both Hull City and Ipswich Town can offer. Lazio, meanwhile, is keen to recoup a fee rather than lose him on a free transfer next year. The coming weeks will be crucial.

In conclusion, the transfer saga surrounding Luca Pellegrini exemplifies the intersection of ambition and necessity for clubs like Hull City and Ipswich Town. Hull City Ipswich Town Vying for Departing Lazio Full-Back is not just a headline but a reflection of the dynamic market as teams prepare for the new season. Whether Pellegrini chooses the Premier League or returns to Spain, his next move will be closely watched.
