Juventus Unveils Massara as Chief Football Officer, Chiellini Takes On New Role

FolioPitch.com – 07 July 2026 | In a significant restructuring move, Official Juventus confirm Massara s appointment and new Chiellini role as the club looks to strengthen its front office ahead of the 2026-27 season. The Bianconeri officially announced on Tuesday that Frederic Massara has been appointed Chief Football Officer, while legendary defender Giorgio Chiellini transitions to the newly created position of Chief Club Affairs Officer.

The news comes after weeks of speculation that Massara, who left AS Roma last month, was in advanced talks with Juventus. The club wasted no time finalizing the deal, and the official statement underscores their commitment to building a robust organizational structure. Official Juventus confirm Massara s appointment and new Chiellini role as part of a broader strategy to enhance both sporting and institutional operations.

Massara, 57, will report directly to CEO Giovanni Carnevali and work closely with Sporting Director Marco Ottolini. His responsibilities include overseeing the men’s football division, defining sporting strategies, and managing player development. Massara previously held key roles at AC Milan and Roma, earning a reputation as one of football’s most respected executives. His arrival is expected to bring fresh expertise to Juventus’s recruitment and planning processes.

Meanwhile, Chiellini’s new role as Chief Club Affairs Officer will focus on external relations, stakeholder engagement, and representing Juventus with Italian and international sporting bodies. The 41-year-old former captain spent the past year as Director of Football Strategy, but this promotion gives him broader influence in shaping the club’s institutional presence. Official Juventus confirm Massara s appointment and new Chiellini role signals a clear intent to leverage both their footballing pedigree and administrative acumen.

CEO Giovanni Carnevali commented: ‘I am convinced that we are building a solid, competent and cohesive structure, capable of supporting our ambitions both now and in the future. We are delighted to welcome Frederic into the great Bianconeri family. His expertise and in-depth knowledge of football represent an added value and complement perfectly the professional skills already present within the Club’s organisational structure.’

Carnevali himself was appointed last month, replacing Damien Comolli after a brief tenure. The new leadership team is already making waves in the transfer market, having signed Italy winger Jeff Ekhator from Genoa for €18 million plus add-ons earlier this summer.

Juventus will begin pre-season training under manager Luciano Spalletti on July 13, with their first Serie A match scheduled for August 29 at home against Parma. The club is eager to bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 campaign and return to the top of Italian football.

In summary, Official Juventus confirm Massara s appointment and new Chiellini role marks a new chapter for the club. With a revamped front office and a clear division of responsibilities, Juventus aims to combine football excellence with strategic institutional growth. The coming months will reveal how these changes translate into success on and off the pitch.
