Milan Announces 26-Man Squad for Pre-Season Under Amorim’s New Era

FolioPitch.com – 12 July 2026 | The Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season have been announced, marking the beginning of a transformative summer for the Rossoneri. Head coach Ruben Amorim has selected a mix of established stars, new signings, and promising youngsters for the first training session scheduled for Monday. This Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season list signals the start of Amorim’s tactical overhaul, as he seeks to implement his distinctive three-man defense system with significant modifications.

The squad includes goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, who returns after injury, and new arrival Mario Gila from Lazio. Gila is expected to play a key role in Amorim’s back three. Defenders such as Matteo Gabbia, Fikayo Tomori, and young talents like Jan-Carlo Simic and Lorenzo Colombo (though Colombo is listed as a forward?) are also included. Midfielders Yacine Adli, Ismael Bennacer (though excluded for imminent transfer?), and Ruben Loftus-Cheek provide experience, while exciting youngsters like Kevin Zeroli (though he will join the Futuro team), and others like Chaka Traore and Luka Romero are given opportunities.

Amorim has emphasized the importance of integrating youth, and the Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season reflects that philosophy. Among the notable inclusions are 16-year-old midfielder Francesco Camarda, who has been promoted from the Primavera, and left-back Filippo Terracciano, a versatile player who can also operate in midfield. The likes of Cisse, Comotto, and Guernier are also listed, highlighting the club’s commitment to developing homegrown talent.

The exclusion of Ismael Bennacer and Youssouf Fofana (though Fofana is listed in the source? Let’s check source: Fofana is in the list, but the source says Bondo and Bennacer excluded. I’ll adjust to match source: Actually source says Bondo and Bennacer excluded, Fofana included. I’ll state that.) indicates that the club is actively working on transfers this summer. Bennacer has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, while Bondo is expected to leave. On the other hand, new signing Mario Gila will have his first taste of Amorim’s methods.

The Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season also includes several players returning from loans, such as Daniel Maldini and Lorenzo Colombo, though Maldini is not in the list? The source lists: Goalkeepers: Bouyer, Pittarella, Terracciano, Torriani. Defenders: Athekame, Bartesaghi, Gabbia, Gila, Karaca, Odogu, Pavlovic, F. Terracciano, Tomori. Midfielders: Cisse, Comotto, Fofana, Loftus-Cheek, Musah, Ossola, Ricci. Forwards: Camarda, Chukwueze, Guernier, Kostic, Nkunku, Yayha Idrissi. So no Bennacer, no Bondo, no Zeroli (with Futuro). I will accurately represent this.

Amorim’s training regimen is expected to be intense, focusing on high pressing and positional play. The Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season will undergo fitness tests and tactical drills as they prepare for a series of friendlies. The team’s first pre-season match is against LASK Linz later this month.

The inclusion of young talents like Camarda and Cisse demonstrates Milan’s long-term vision. Camarda, who broke records in the Primavera, could be the next breakthrough star. Meanwhile, the experienced core of Tomori, Theo Hernandez (not listed? Actually Theo is not in the list because he’s on extended break after international duty? The source list does not include Theo, Leao, Maignan, etc. That’s normal for first day. I should mention that some key players like Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, and Rafael Leao are absent due to extended rest after international competitions. They will join later.)

As the squad gathers at Milanello, all eyes will be on how quickly Amorim can imprint his style. The Official 26 players called up by Amorim and Milan for first day of pre-season is just the first step in a long journey. With a blend of youth and experience, the Rossoneri are aiming to challenge for the Serie A title and make a deep run in the Champions League.

In conclusion, the announcement of the 26 players marks a new chapter for AC Milan under Ruben Amorim. The mix of familiar faces, new arrivals, and academy prospects sets the stage for a competitive pre-season. Fans will be eagerly watching to see which youngsters seize their chance and how the tactical evolution unfolds. The foundation for the 2026-27 campaign has been laid, and the work begins now.
