FolioPitch.com – 14 July 2026 | The Ex-Bundesliga Defender Arrives in Rome to Sign for Lazio Video has been circulating widely on social media, capturing the moment Dutch centre-back Danilho Doekhi landed in the Italian capital on Monday, July 13, 2026. Lazio are on the verge of securing the 28-year-old on a free transfer after he left Union Berlin at the end of his contract, and the video from Gianluca Di Marzio shows Doekhi arriving to finalize the deal.

Lazio’s defensive overhaul this summer has been prompted by the departures of Mario Gila, who joined AC Milan, and Alessio Romagnoli, who is expected to move to Al-Sadd. With only a handful of centre-backs remaining, the club has been actively scouting the market. While Sergi Dominguez has been identified as a primary target, reports from Italy and the Netherlands on Sunday revealed that Lazio opened talks with Doekhi, a Rotterdam native who came through Ajax’s youth system and made a name for himself at Vitesse before spending four years in Germany with Union Berlin.

The Ex-Bundesliga Defender Arrives in Rome to Sign for Lazio Video highlights the swift progress of negotiations. According to renowned journalists Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Doekhi landed in Rome on Monday to undergo a medical and sign his contract. Romano indicated that the deal is not yet closed but expects to give his trademark ‘here we go’ confirmation soon. Doekhi would become Lazio’s second signing of the summer after Alfonso Pedraza, who had already signed a pre-agreement in the winter.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio also reported that a meeting between Lazio and Doekhi was scheduled for Monday to sort out the remaining details. He emphasized that Doekhi’s arrival does not rule out a move for Dominguez, as Lazio could acquire two centre-backs after losing Romagnoli and Gila. A few hours later, Di Marzio shared the Ex-Bundesliga Defender Arrives in Rome to Sign for Lazio Video on his X account, showing Doekhi at the airport.

Danilho Doekhi’s career has been marked by steady progression. After emerging at Vitesse, he moved to Union Berlin in 2022 and became a key figure in their defense, helping the club qualify for European competition. His experience in the Bundesliga and his leadership qualities make him a valuable addition to Lazio’s squad. The club’s sporting director, Angelo Mariani, has been working diligently to strengthen the backline, and Doekhi’s free transfer represents a shrewd piece of business.

Lazio fans have been eagerly awaiting the official announcement, and the Ex-Bundesliga Defender Arrives in Rome to Sign for Lazio Video has generated significant excitement on social media.
