Torino Edges Closer to Lucas Perri Signing as Leeds United Identify Replacement

FolioPitch.com – 24 July 2026 | Italian Serie A side Torino are reportedly on the cusp of securing the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri from English Premier League outfit Leeds United. The transfer news comes as a significant development for the Granata outfit, who are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season.

According to multiple sources in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano, Torino are closing in on a deal to sign Perri, who will replace the Brazilian goalkeeper with James Trafford. The 28-year-old Perri has had a stint with Leeds United, joining the club a year ago from Olympique Lyon in a €16m deal.

During his time at Leeds, Perri made 16 Premier League appearances, conceding 29 goals and keeping just three clean sheets. His experience in Europe, having also played for Crystal Palace and Olympique Lyon, makes him an attractive signing for Torino.

Meanwhile, Leeds United are said to be confident of securing a deal to sign James Trafford from Manchester City, which will pave the way for Perri’s move to the Stadio Grande Torino. The final details of the transfer are reportedly being sorted between the two clubs.

Torino’s interest in Perri is not the only significant transfer news coming out of the Italian outfit. The Granata side are also in talks to sign ex-Valencia defender Eray Cömert, who is available as a free agent. Cömert is also on the shopping list of Italian outfit Lazio.

Under the guidance of their new coach, ex-Milan defender Ignazio Abate, Torino are looking to build a stronger squad for the upcoming season. Abate, who reached the Serie B play-offs with Juve Stabia last season, is expected to bring his expertise to the Granata side.

As the transfer window continues to heat up, Torino’s signing of Perri is expected to be a significant coup for the Italian outfit. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, with the player set to join the squad ahead of the new season.

With Perri’s arrival, Torino are expected to strengthen their goalkeeping department, providing a much-needed boost to their squad. The Granata side will be looking to build on their performance in the previous season, and the signing of Perri is expected to be a key factor in their success.
