A Rising Star with International Pedigree

Born in France, Halhal rose through the youth ranks at Montpellier before moving to Belgium in 2024. He initially spent time on loan at Helmond Sport in the Netherlands, where he gained valuable first-team experience. However, it was his spell at KV Mechelen that truly showcased his abilities. Last season, he made 34 competitive appearances, contributing one goal and two assists from the back line. His performances did not go unnoticed, earning him a spot in Morocco‘s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he started two matches in a historic run.

His versatility is one of his key attributes. While primarily a central defender, Halhal is equally comfortable operating as a right-back or left-back when required. This flexibility will be a valuable asset for Venezia’s manager, allowing for tactical adjustments without compromising on defensive stability. The club has been keen to reinforce its backline, and the acquisition of a young, dynamic defender like Halhal fits perfectly into their long-term project.

Venezia’s Ambition and Halhal’s Eagerness

Venezia’s pursuit of Halhal signals their ambition to not only maintain their top-flight status but also to push for higher achievements. The club’s sporting director expressed his delight at securing the deal, stating, “Redouane is a player we have tracked for months. His qualities both defensively and on the ball are exceptional, and we believe he will adapt quickly to Italian football. The Serie A offers him a platform to showcase his talents on a global stage, and the opportunity to work under a tactically astute coaching staff was a significant draw. Upon arrival, Halhal stated, “I am thrilled to join Venezia. This is a club with a rich history and a passionate fan base. I am ready to give my all to help the team achieve its goals.”

Squad Movement and Future Prospects

In a related development, Venezia are also finalizing a deal that would send midfielder Ahmed Sidibé to Portuguese side Guimaraes on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. This move is designed to provide Sidibé with regular playing time and further squad balance. The simultaneous acquisition of Halhal and the loan departure of Sidibé indicate a proactive transfer window for the Italian club.

Analysts believe that Halhal’s arrival could be a defining factor in Venezia’s season. His international experience, combined with his youth and adaptability, makes him a valuable asset for both the present and the future.
