The Croatian midfield maestro touched down in Western Australia earlier today, and the scene outside AC Milan‘s team hotel was nothing short of electric. Dozens of Rossoneri supporters, draped in red and black scarves and clutching jerseys, had gathered hours in advance, hoping to catch a glimpse of the 40-year-old legend. They were not disappointed. The warm reception in Perth marks the beginning of a crucial chapter for both Modric and AC Milan. After representing Croatia at the World Cup, the veteran was granted extended leave before officially putting pen to paper on a new contract last Thursday. With that formality resolved, he flew directly to Australia to reunite with his teammates, who have been training in the sweltering heat as part of their pre-season tour. For the fans, seeing Modric in the flesh was a dream come true. For the player, it was a reminder of why he continues to compete at the highest level.

The club’s official social media channels were quick to capture the moment, sharing a video that quickly went viral among the AC Milan faithful. In the footage, Modric can be seen wearing a relaxed smile, dressed in casual attire, patiently making his way along the barrier where fans had gathered. Children held out their phones, elderly supporters waved flags, and a chorus of chants rang out as he made his way into the hotel. It was a scene that encapsulated the unique bond between a football icon and the people who adore him.

Modric’s arrival in Perth is particularly significant given the expectations surrounding his role in the upcoming season. New head coach Ruben Amorim has already publicly stated that the Croatian will be an integral part of his tactical plans. Amorim, known for his meticulous preparation and attacking philosophy, sees Modric as the perfect conductor to orchestrate Milan’s midfield. The Portuguese coach is reportedly eager to begin working with the veteran, believing that his experience, vision, and ability to control the tempo of a match will be invaluable in both Serie A and European competition.

The first training session is scheduled for tomorrow morning, and all eyes will be on Modric as he joins his new teammates on the pitch. Despite his age, Modric has maintained an exemplary level of fitness, and those close to him suggest he is determined to make the 2026-27 season his most memorable yet. Last season was challenging for the midfielder, who faced injury setbacks and fluctuating form, but a full pre-season under a new coach could provide the fresh start he craves. His dedication is undeniable; even during his vacation, he continued to train on his own, ensuring he would arrive in Perth in peak condition.
