Lazio’s Resurgence Continues: Petar Ratkov Leads Aquile to 4-0 Victory Over Ostiamare

FolioPitch.com – 06 August 2026 | Lazio‘s pre-season purple patch shows no signs of slowing down as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Ostiamare at the Formello training centre. The Serie A outfit kept their perfect summer record intact, with Petar Ratkov leading the charge with a brace in the first half, followed by goals from Mattia Zaccagni in the second.

Manager Gennaro Gattuso opted for a 4-3-3 formation, with Edoardo Motta in goal and a backline consisting of Manuel Lazzari, Ricardo Bordon, Alessio Romagnoli, and Romano Floriani Mussolini. The midfield trio of Reda Belahyane, Bruno Galassi, and Valerio Farcomani provided the creative spark, while Petar Ratkov led the line alongside Federico Serra and Tijjani Noslin.

Ostiamare came close to taking the lead in the 15th minute, but Riccardo Tonin’s shot was denied by the post. The visitors’ best chance came when Noslin was presented with a golden opportunity, but the Dutchman took too much time before applying the finish, allowing Pietro Gioardani to pull off a goal-line clearance.

Ratkov extended Lazio’s lead in the 19th minute, nodding the ball home from a delicate cross by Noslin. The Serbian striker made it 2-0 just before halftime, scoring from a low but powerful square ball played by Lazzari. The Aquile added another goal in the 41st minute, with Ratkov scoring his second of the game.

Gattuso made 10 changes to the lineup at halftime, with Ratkov the only survivor. Mattia Zaccagni and Matteo Cancellieri took the wings, while Nicolo Rovella played between Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Kenneth Taylor in midfield. Adam Marusic, Danilho Doekhi, Oliver Provstgaard, and Alfonso Pedraza formed the backline, with Davide Renzetti in goal.

Zaccagni scored his first goal in the 73rd minute, slotting home from a backpass by Taylor. The Italian winger completed his brace six minutes later, coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The Aquile had several opportunities to add to their lead, but Doekhi, Dele-Bashiru, and Sana Fernandes couldn’t finish off their chances, so the score remained 4-0.

Lazio’s victory marked a successful pre-season campaign for the Aquile, with Ratkov’s brace cementing his status as one of the most in-form strikers in the league. The team’s perfect record will be put to the test in their next match, as they face off against a tough opponent.
