Gentleman Fair Play Award: Motta Vying With Inter, AC Milan & Juventus Stars

FolioPitch.com – 06 October 2026 | The race for the 31st Gentleman Fair Play Award has reached its final stage, with Lazio goalkeeper Edoardo Motta vying with Inter, AC Milan, and Juventus stars for the prestigious honor. The Gentleman Fair Play Award Motta Vying With Inter AC Milan Juventus Stars shortlist was revealed by Sport Mediaset, setting the stage for a star-studded gala at San Siro this Wednesday. The award celebrates players who excel on the pitch while embodying exemplary conduct in their daily lives, making this year’s quartet a particularly compelling group.

Motta, a 21-year-old shot-stopper, has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year. Signed from Reggiana in January for just over €1 million as part of a deal that sent Christos Mandas to Bournemouth on loan, he was initially expected to serve as a backup. However, when first-choice goalkeeper Ivan Provedel suffered a season-ending injury in March, Motta was thrust into the spotlight. He responded with a series of commanding performances, none more memorable than his heroics in the Coppa Italia semi-final penalty shootout against Atalanta. There, he saved four out of five spot-kicks to single-handedly propel Lazio into the final. Despite his sudden fame, Motta has remained humble, earning widespread admiration for his maturity beyond his years.

The young Italian faces formidable competition. Luka Modric, the iconic AC Milan midfielder, needs little introduction. A Ballon d’Or winner and one of the most decorated players of his generation, Modric continues to dictate games with elegance and intelligence. His sportsmanship and professionalism have made him a beloved figure across the football world, and his inclusion on the Gentleman Fair Play Award Motta Vying With Inter AC Milan Juventus Stars shortlist comes as no surprise.

Federico Dimarco, the Inter Milan wing-back and reigning Serie A MVP, is another strong contender. Dimarco’s relentless energy and attacking flair have been instrumental in Inter’s recent successes, but it is his respectful demeanor and community engagement that have caught the award committee’s eye. Completing the quartet is Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli, a leader known for his composure and charitable work off the field. Locatelli’s journey from promising youngster to Juventus skipper is a testament to his dedication and character.

The final four emerged from an initial 15-man shortlist that featured 11 other Serie A players, underscoring the depth of talent and integrity in Italian football. The selection process reportedly weighed not only on-field achievements but also personal conduct, philanthropy, and contributions to the community. Motta’s rapid ascent from relative unknown to national hero has captured the imagination of fans, while Modric, Dimarco, and Locatelli bring star power and established reputations.

The Gentleman Fair Play Award Motta Vying With Inter AC Milan Juventus Stars ceremony will also honor other distinguished figures. Inter President Beppe Marotta will receive special recognition for his contributions to the sport, while Arianna Fontana, the most decorated Italian figure skater in Olympic history, will be celebrated for her extraordinary career. Additionally, 2006 World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta will be presented with the Gentleman Lifetime Achievement Award, a fitting tribute to a player who embodied fair play throughout his illustrious career.

The gala at San Siro promises to be a night of celebration, bringing together current stars, legends, and influential figures in Italian sport. For Motta, merely being nominated alongside such esteemed company is a significant achievement. Yet his performances and conduct suggest he is a worthy contender. Should he win, it would cap a remarkable season for the young goalkeeper and further cement the Gentleman Fair Play Award Motta Vying With Inter AC Milan Juventus Stars narrative as one of the most inspiring stories of the year.

As the football world awaits the announcement, the focus remains on the values that the award represents: respect, integrity, and excellence. Whether the trophy goes to Motta, Modric, Dimarco, or Locatelli, the 31st edition of the Gentleman Fair Play Award will undoubtedly highlight the very best of Serie A and beyond. The Gentleman Fair Play Award Motta Vying With Inter AC Milan Juventus Stars showdown is not just about footballing prowess—it is a celebration of character, and all four nominees have proven themselves champions in that regard.

In conclusion, the Gentleman Fair Play Award serves as a reminder that true greatness extends beyond statistics and trophies. Edoardo Motta’s journey from a €1 million signing to a Coppa Italia hero and now a finalist for this prestigious accolade is a testament to perseverance and humility. As he stands alongside Modric, Dimarco, and Locatelli, the young goalkeeper represents the future of Italian football—a future where talent and fair play go hand in hand. The winner will be revealed on Wednesday, but regardless of the outcome, all four nominees have already won the respect of fans and peers alike.
