Everton’s Interest in Douglas Luiz Fades as Juventus Remains Top Priority

FolioPitch.com – 06 August 2026 | Everton interested in Douglas Luiz but Juventus remains his only priority, as the Brazilian midfielder is determined to prove himself in front of the Bianconeri supporters. Despite the Toffees’ interest, Douglas Luiz is adamant that he wants to stay with Juventus for the 2026-27 season at least.

A former Aston Villa player, Douglas Luiz joined Juventus in a €50m deal in the summer of 2024, but his first season in Turin was disappointing, with him making just 19 Serie A appearances, averaging just 27 minutes of action per outing.

After struggling to replicate his Premier League form in Italy, Douglas Luiz was loaned out to Nottingham Forest, but his stint was cut short, and he returned to his parent club, Aston Villa, for the remainder of the season.

Now back in Italy, Douglas Luiz has been given another chance to audition in front of head coach Luciano Spalletti, who was appointed while the Brazilian was out on loan in the Premier League last season.

Spalletti has deployed Douglas Luiz in all of Juve’s pre-season friendlies this summer, and the player himself has recently made it clear that he wishes to stay at the club and prove himself in front of the supporters.

Speaking in a recent interview, Douglas Luiz said, ‘The work done over the last three weeks is making me understand things and allowing me to grow in training and in matches. I’m becoming convinced that I can stay at this club.’

Despite Everton’s interest in signing Douglas Luiz this summer, he is determined to prove himself in front of the Juventus supporters and has made it clear that he wants to stay with the club for the 2026-27 season at least.
