Fiorentina Target Tottenham’s Udogie or Atletico’s Ruggeri for Summer Reinforcement

FolioPitch.com – 27 June 2026 | Fiorentina want Udogie of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid‘s Ruggeri to bolster their left-back options this summer, according to sources close to the club. Director Fabio Paratici, who previously worked at Tottenham, is leveraging his connections to bring in Italian international Destiny Udogie, with Matteo Ruggeri emerging as a more affordable alternative.

Fiorentina want Udogie of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid’s Ruggeri as they seek to strengthen a position that has been problematic for much of the season. Paratici, who returned to Serie A in February after a ban, has identified the 23-year-old Udogie as a prime target. The left-back joined Spurs from Udinese in 2022 for €18 million plus add-ons, signing a contract until 2030. However, injuries and inconsistent playing time have limited his impact, with only one assist in 28 appearances this term.

Tottenham are reportedly demanding €40-50 million for Udogie, a fee that Fiorentina consider excessive. Paratici is hoping to negotiate a loan with an option to buy, contingent on performance-related targets. Coach Roberto De Zerbi is said to be keen to retain Udogie, making any deal difficult. Nevertheless, the persistent rumors suggest Fiorentina want Udogie of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid’s Ruggeri to resolve their left-back dilemma.

Matteo Ruggeri, another Italy international, presents a cheaper option. Atletico Madrid purchased him from Atalanta last year for €17 million plus add-ons, and are now seeking €25 million for his transfer. Ruggeri has adapted well to La Liga, but Fiorentina view him as a viable target if the Udogie deal falls through. The club’s interest is clear: Fiorentina want Udogie of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid’s Ruggeri to provide quality and depth.

Fiorentina’s summer transfer strategy revolves around these two players, with Paratici working diligently behind the scenes. The left-back position is a priority, and the club hopes to secure a deal before pre-season begins. Fans are eager to see which player arrives, but the financial constraints may dictate the outcome. If Tottenham lower their asking price or agree to a loan, Udogie could be the marquee signing. Otherwise, Ruggeri offers a proven Serie A performer at a more reasonable cost.

In conclusion, Fiorentina want Udogie of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid’s Ruggeri, and the coming weeks will be crucial. Paratici’s experience and contacts may prove decisive in landing one of these Italian internationals. The club’s ambition to challenge for European spots hinges on such shrewd acquisitions.
