Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed Line-ups: Aquilani Rings Changes as Gattuso’s Unbeaten Leaders Roll Into Town

FolioPitch.com – 27 October 2026 | Alberto Aquilani and Gennaro Gattuso have named their strongest available XIs as Sassuolo host league-leading Lazio in Serie A at 17.30 GMT on Wednesday evening, with the Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups offering a fascinating contrast in form and fortune. The hosts come into the contest ranked 14th in the table with eight points from eight matches, while the visitors sit level with Inter at the summit after seven wins and a draw from their opening eight fixtures.

Sassuolo are without a win across their last six league fixtures and have lost their last two, both away from home against Frosinone and Como. Aquilani has responded by making several alterations to the side that fell at Como over the weekend, with Simone Cinquegrano and Josh Doig returning at full-back, Luca Lipani and Kristjan Thorstvedt drafted into midfield, and Sebastiano Esposito and Armand Lauriente joining Domenico Berardi in the front three. The Neroverdi are at full strength against Lazio this evening, and the Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups reflect a manager desperate to arrest a worrying slide.

Lazio, by contrast, are one of four teams still unbeaten after eight Serie A matches, the first time this has happened in the history of the division. Gattuso’s side are currently on a four-game winning streak with victories against Venezia, Monza, Juventus and Parma behind them. Unsurprisingly, the Lazio coach has done his best to keep his winning team together, making just one alteration at centre-back with Diego Leite replacing Oliver Provstgaard. The Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups show Christos Mandas continuing in goal behind a back four of Romano Floriani Mussolini, Josip Sutalo, Leite and Nuno Tavares, with Davide Frattesi, Reda Belahyane and Kenneth Taylor in midfield and Gustav Isaksen, Tijjani Noslin and Mattia Zaccagni forming the attacking trident.

The confirmed line-ups are as follows:

Today’s fixture is one of three Serie A games being played on Tuesday night, with a full round of fixtures in store this midweek and seven more matches scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups will be scrutinised closely by fantasy managers and tactical analysts alike, particularly given the attacking quality on show from the visitors.

Lazio’s unbeaten run has been built on a solid defensive foundation and a potent front line, and Gattuso will expect his side to dominate possession against a Sassuolo team low on confidence. The hosts, however, will take heart from the return of key personnel and the support of their home crowd at the Mapei Stadium. Aquilani’s decision to freshen up his full-back positions and midfield suggests he is looking to match Lazio’s intensity and deny them space in wide areas.

As the Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups confirm, both managers have named strong sides for what promises to be an intriguing encounter. Lazio will be eager to maintain their place at the top of the table, while Sassuolo are desperate to end their winless streak and climb away from the lower reaches of the standings.

In conclusion, the confirmed line-ups set the stage for a compelling contest between a side in crisis and a side in irresistible form. Lazio’s unbeaten record and four-game winning run make them clear favourites, but Sassuolo’s home advantage and refreshed personnel give them a fighting chance. The Serie A Sassuolo vs Lazio Confirmed line-ups will ultimately be judged by the result on the pitch, and all eyes will be on the Mapei Stadium to see whether Aquilani’s changes can spark a revival or whether Gattuso’s well-oiled machine rolls on.
