AC Milan’s Quiet Mercato: Waiting for the Right Moment to Make a Move

FolioPitch.com – 06 August 2026 | AC Milan have been relatively quiet in the transfer market recently, and it’s easy to understand why. The Rossoneri have already committed to nearly €200 million in spending, and they can’t just splash out without getting some money back. However, that doesn’t mean they’re done for the season.

According to GdS Inacio and a playmaker Milan hope for two more signings after friendlies, the club is waiting for the right moment to make their next move. And when they do, it could be big.

The first hurdle to clear is the departure of Rafael Leao. While it’s no longer a certainty, Matias Soule remains a concrete target. But things are looking good there, and there’s no rush to finalize the deal. If Roma are willing to negotiate on the Rossoneri’s terms, then the longer the window stays open, the better it is for Milan.

Leao’s situation is not a major concern internally, and Gerry Cardinale is ready to pounce if an opportunity arises. Even if things don’t fall into place, the club is prepared to accelerate proceedings if needed. Another target, Dario Osorio, is also on the radar.

But a defender is also on the agenda. Goncalo Inacio is still a desired signing, despite the initial setback. Sankhoun Diawara will provide cover for Strahinja Pavlovic, while Mario Gila will take care of the right side. If Fikayo Tomori departs, then the door will be open for Inacio to join the club.

It won’t be easy, but the management is ready to push the button if necessary. AC Milan are not done yet, and they’re waiting for the right moment to make their next move.
