Amorim’s Milan: The Defining Signing That Could Shape the Season

FolioPitch.com – 13 July 2026 | According to journalist Andrea Longoni, the attacking midfielder acquisition could be the defining signing for Amorim’s Milan as the club looks to complete its summer overhaul. Longoni says attacking midfielder could be the defining signing for Amorim s Milan, a statement that underscores the importance of this position in Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup. With two signings already secured—Mario Gila and Goncalo Ramos—Milan has strengthened its spine, but more work remains to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Longoni outlined the remaining needs: a centre-back, a midfielder, a winger, and crucially, an attacking midfielder. He emphasized that while the arrivals of Gila and Ramos are excellent, they are not sufficient. “With the excellent Gila now included, another centre-back will be crucial,” he wrote, noting that Matteo Gabbia remains a valuable squad player but not a starter. In midfield, a partner for Adrien Rabiot is needed; Luka Modric requires careful management, and Ardon Jashari—still an unknown quantity after an injury-hit season—cannot be relied upon as a key starter. “Then there’s the winger and the attacking midfielder. The latter, in particular, could be the defining signing that will provide a clear and distinct image of what, once fully operational, will be Amorim’s Milan,” Longoni added.

The search for an attacking midfielder has thus become a top priority. Longoni says attacking midfielder could be the defining signing for Amorim s Milan, and this echoes the sentiment among fans who see the lack of creativity in the final third as a persistent issue. Amorim’s system relies on fluid movement and intelligent passing from the number 10 role, making this signing pivotal to unlocking the full potential of the squad. Names like Charles De Ketelaere or a new creative force have been linked, but the club must act decisively.

Beyond the attacking midfielder, Milan also needs to offload several players to fund these acquisitions. Sales will be crucial to balance the books and make room for the four signings Longoni highlighted. The next few weeks will be telling as the mercato progresses. Longoni says attacking midfielder could be the defining signing for Amorim s Milan, a reminder that this transfer window is about more than just filling gaps—it is about shaping the identity of the team.

In conclusion, while Gila and Ramos are strong additions, Milan’s summer hinges on landing the right attacking midfielder. That player will not only complete the puzzle but also define the style and success of Amorim’s tenure. Longoni says attacking midfielder could be the defining signing for Amorim s Milan, and history may prove him right.
