Newcastle Join Lazio in Frantic Pursuit of Inter Midfielder Davide Frattesi

FolioPitch.com – 12 August 2026 | The transfer window is heating up, and Newcastle United has emerged as the latest suitor for Inter Milan‘s talented midfielder, Davide Frattesi. This development comes after the Magpies were knocked back in their pursuit of Aleksandar Stanković, a young and highly-rated midfielder who has been a target for several clubs. Inter, however, has made it clear that Stanković is not for sale, and Newcastle has been directed towards Frattesi instead.

According to reports, Newcastle is willing to pay a significant amount, around €25 million, to secure Frattesi’s services. This move would be a significant coup for the English club, which has been looking to strengthen its midfield following the departure of Bruno Guimarães. Frattesi, on the other hand, is said to be open to a new challenge in the Premier League, which could make this move a win-win for both parties.

Lazio, another Italian club, is also interested in Frattesi, but they may not be able to match Newcastle’s offer. Lazio could only realistically take Frattesi on a loan with an option to buy, which would leave them behind a club that can offer a straight permanent deal. Inter, meanwhile, is determined to keep Stanković and is willing to use Frattesi’s sale to fund their pursuit of Liverpool’s Curtis Jones.

The sale of Frattesi would not only bring in much-needed revenue for Inter but also help the club to create space for new signings. Inter’s hierarchy is seeking an exit for Kristjan Asllani before the window closes, and a loan deal for Yanis Massolin could also be on the cards. With the transfer window nearing its end, it’s clear that Inter will be active in the market, and Frattesi’s departure could be just the beginning.

As the transfer window reaches its climax, it’s clear that Newcastle and Lazio are ready to do battle for Frattesi’s services. Will the Magpies be able to secure his signature, or will Lazio’s offer prove too tempting to resist? One thing is for sure – Frattesi’s future is set to be one of the most closely-watched storylines in the transfer market.
