Radu Dragusin Credits Fabio Paratici for Swift Move to Fiorentina

FolioPitch.com – 16 July 2026 | Radu Dragusin has candidly revealed how Fabio Paratici was decisive in his transfer from Tottenham to Fiorentina, a move that materialized rapidly after a single phone call. In his presentation press conference at Viola Park, the Romanian international detailed how Paratici’s involvement triggered a quick negotiation, culminating in a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Dragusin reveals how Paratici was decisive in move from Tottenham to Fiorentina, stating, ‘I chose Fiorentina because it has a growth project. The negotiation started with the call from Paratici, whom I know very well. The fact that he was here had a big influence.’ The defender’s connection with Paratici stretches back to January 2024, when the sporting director signed him for Tottenham from Genoa. Their reunion in Florence required little deliberation.

‘When I received Fiorentina’s call, we didn’t think about it much, the negotiation didn’t last long,’ Dragusin added, emphasizing the streamlined process. The centre-back, who spent the first half of the 2025-26 season recovering from a serious injury, is now fully fit and eager to contribute. His final campaign at Tottenham was marred by setbacks, but he insists that chapter is closed. ‘I’m 100% recovered; I feel able to give a lot. I had a horrible year that helped me grow in other ways. I want to thank Tottenham; I saw a different world and it gave me a Europa League win,’ he reflected.

Dragusin reveals how Paratici was decisive in move from Tottenham to Fiorentina also by addressing a failed switch to Roma during the winter transfer window. ‘In the winter there were negotiations, but for various reasons I didn’t go anywhere,’ he explained, suggesting that Paratici’s presence at Fiorentina was a decisive factor in choosing Florence over the capital. The 23-year-old is determined to repay the club’s faith: ‘The fact that I’m here means only Fiorentina matters. I want to stay here to do great things and repay the club’s faith.’

His arrival at Fiorentina reunites him with coach Fabio Grosso, whom he faced when Grosso was at Frosinone. Dragusin praised the squad’s mentality, saying, ‘I found a group with a lot of hunger.’ The move marks a new chapter for the defender, who aims to establish himself as a key figure in the Viola defense. With Paratici’s backing and a clear growth project, Dragusin is confident about the future.

In summary, Dragusin reveals how Paratici was decisive in move from Tottenham to Fiorentina, and his focus is now firmly on making an impact in Serie A. The reunion with his former sporting director has given him a fresh start, and he is committed to helping Fiorentina achieve great things. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on how this partnership flourishes on the pitch.
