Radu Dragusin Returns to Italy: Official Dragusin joins Fiorentina from Tottenham in €19m Deal

FolioPitch.com – 09 July 2026 | In a move that brings a familiar face back to Serie A, Official Dragusin joins Fiorentina from Tottenham in €19m deal. The Romanian defender has been officially unveiled by the Viola after completing a loan move from Tottenham Hotspur, with an obligation to buy that could reach €19 million. The transfer was negotiated by Fiorentina director Fabio Paratici, who previously served at Tottenham until February 2026.

The deal is structured as an initial loan worth €1.5 million, with a mandatory purchase clause triggered after Dragusin makes his 22nd appearance for Fiorentina. The obligation then rises to a further €17.5 million, making the total package €19 million. Additionally, Tottenham have secured a 10% sell-on clause should Fiorentina eventually transfer the centre-back.

This transfer marks a return to Italian football for Dragusin, who came through the Juventus youth academy and enjoyed loan spells at Sampdoria, Salernitana, and Genoa before making a permanent move to Genoa for €9.7 million in the summer of 2023. Just six months later, he was sold to Tottenham for €28 million plus add-ons, but his time in England was hampered by a devastating knee injury. In January 2025, Dragusin tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, sidelining him for nearly an entire year.

Despite his recovery, the 24-year-old found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs, making only 48 competitive appearances overall, with just 11 matches last season, only six of which were starts. Now, with the Official Dragusin joins Fiorentina from Tottenham in €19m deal finalized, the Romania international is eager to relaunch his career in a league where he previously thrived.

Fiorentina’s defensive line has been bolstered by the arrival of Dragusin, who is expected to bring physicality and experience. The club’s director Fabio Paratici, who worked with the player during his time at Tottenham, was instrumental in pushing the transfer through. “Radu is a talented defender with great potential,” Paratici commented. “We are delighted to bring him back to Italy.”

The move also benefits Tottenham, who recoup part of their initial investment while retaining a future sell-on clause. For Dragusin, the switch to Fiorentina represents a fresh start. “I am very happy to be here,” Dragusin said upon signing. “Fiorentina is a great club, and I want to help the team achieve its goals.”

As the Official Dragusin joins Fiorentina from Tottenham in €19m deal goes through, all eyes will be on his performances at the Stadio Franchi. If he meets the appearance threshold, the move will become permanent, and Fiorentina will secure a defender they believe can be a cornerstone of their backline for years to come.

In conclusion, the transfer reunites Dragusin with Serie A, where he previously made his name as a promising young defender. With the Official Dragusin joins Fiorentina from Tottenham in €19m deal now complete, the next chapter of his career begins in Florence, where he hopes to put his injury woes behind him and rediscover the form that made him one of Romania’s most sought-after talents.
