Ricci’s Agent Seeks New Home: Atalanta and Atletico Madrid Circle as Milan Midfielder Eyes Exit

FolioPitch.com – 09 July 2026 | The future of AC Milan midfielder Samuele Ricci is once again a hot topic in the transfer market, with reports from Sportitalia suggesting that Ricci’s agents are actively seeking a new project that guarantees him regular playing time. The keyword ‘Sportitalia Ricci s agents seeking new project to guarantee space Atalanta and Atletico Madrid interested’ encapsulates the current situation, as both Atalanta and Atletico Madrid have emerged as potential destinations for the Italian youngster. After a frustrating debut season at San Siro, Ricci is reportedly pushing for a move away to secure a starting role elsewhere.

Ricci’s move to Milan last summer was highly anticipated, but the 22-year-old failed to establish himself as a key figure under Stefano Pioli. He made mostly substitute appearances and was often deployed out of position on the wing or as a defensive midfielder, limiting his development. With Luka Modric expected to renew his contract and further congest the midfield, Ricci’s prospects for next season look even dimmer. As a result, his representatives are now scouring the market for a club that can offer him a clear path to first-team football.

According to Calciomercato.com, cited by Sportitalia, the player’s camp is ‘looking for a project’ that aligns with his ambitions. The report highlights that ‘Sportitalia Ricci s agents seeking new project to guarantee space Atalanta and Atletico Madrid interested’ is the driving force behind the midfielder’s potential departure. Atalanta, known for their attacking style and trust in young talents, have been long-time admirers of Ricci. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid, under Diego Simeone, could provide a competitive environment in La Liga, though a move would depend on other transfers, such as Morten Hjulmand’s potential arrival.

Milan, for their part, are not opposed to selling Ricci if a suitable offer arrives. The club needs to balance the books and may see this as an opportunity to recoup part of the €18 million investment made last year. However, they will likely demand a significant fee for a player with high potential. Ricci’s international experience with Italy’s senior team adds to his value, but his lack of consistent minutes at club level may temper the price.

The interest from Atalanta is particularly intriguing, as they have a strong track record of revitalizing careers. Gian Piero Gasperini’s system often relies on dynamic midfielders who can press and create chances, a role that could suit Ricci’s technical abilities. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, presents a more pragmatic option, with their disciplined style potentially molding Ricci into a well-rounded player. The keyword ‘Sportitalia Ricci s agents seeking new project to guarantee space Atalanta and Atletico Madrid interested’ continues to reverberate through the rumor mill, indicating that a summer move is increasingly likely.

Milan’s midfield already features players like Yacine Adli, Ismaël Bennacer, and new signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, making it crowded. Ricci’s agents are aware that breaking into the first XI will be an uphill battle. Therefore, they are prioritizing clubs where he can be a regular starter. Atalanta’s Europa League qualification and Atletico’s Champions League pedigree add to the appeal, but the deciding factor will be the guarantee of playing time.

In recent weeks, Milan have been linked with several midfield targets, including Hjulmand, which could further diminish Ricci’s opportunities. The Italian media speculate that a sale of Ricci could fund a move for a more experienced midfielder. Meanwhile, Ricci himself is said to be keen on a fresh start to reignite his career. The narrative of ‘Sportitalia Ricci s agents seeking new project to guarantee space Atalanta and Atletico Madrid interested’ underscores the urgency of the situation.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Ricci’s future remains one of the more intriguing subplots. Whether he ends up in Bergamo with Atalanta, in Madrid with Atletico, or elsewhere, one thing is clear: the young midfielder is determined to find a place where he can play regularly and fulfill his potential. The coming weeks will reveal whether his agents succeed in their search for the perfect project.
