FolioPitch.com – 07 July 2026 | In a developing transfer saga, CM Tottenham rushing for Leao as Portuguese star eyes re-uniting with Tonali has emerged as a headline story with significant implications for AC Milan and the Premier League. According to recent reports, Tottenham Hotspur are accelerating their pursuit of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, with the Portuguese international keen on a move to North London to reunite with his former teammate Sandro Tonali.

The rumor, initially reported by Calciomercato and echoed by SempreMilan, suggests that Tottenham are now in a position to make a decisive move for Leao. The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for Milan since joining from Lille in 2019, but his contract situation and the club’s financial constraints have fueled speculation about his departure. With only two years left on his current deal, Milan may be forced to sell to avoid losing him for free later.

Leao’s preference for Premier League football and his close relationship with Tonali, who joined Newcastle United in 2023, are seen as key drivers behind his willingness to join Tottenham. The prospect of playing alongside Tonali again is a tantalizing one for the Portuguese star, and CM Tottenham rushing for Leao as Portuguese star eyes re-uniting with Tonali could become a reality if the clubs reach an agreement.

Tottenham’s new manager, Ange Postecoglou, is believed to be a strong admirer of Leao’s versatility and attacking flair. The Lilywhites are keen to bolster their forward line after a mixed season, and Leao’s ability to play on the left wing or as a central striker makes him an ideal target. Moreover, the presence of Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, who is reportedly a fan of Leao from his time at Brighton, could further facilitate negotiations.

However, the move is not without complications. AC Milan are demanding a fee in the region of €80 million, while Tottenham are hoping to negotiate a lower price. The Rossoneri are also mindful of their own Champions League ambitions and may be reluctant to sell a key player without a suitable replacement. Nonetheless, Leao’s desire for a new challenge and the financial lure of the Premier League could tip the balance in Tottenham’s favor.

Intriguingly, CM Tottenham rushing for Leao as Portuguese star eyes re-uniting with Tonali has also caught the attention of other top clubs, including Barcelona. The Catalan giants have been monitoring Leao for some time but are currently constrained by their own financial issues. This opens the door for Tottenham to steal a march on their rivals, provided they can act swiftly and decisively in the transfer window.

For Leao, a move to Tottenham would represent a significant step in his career. The Premier League offers a higher profile and greater competitiveness, and playing under Postecoglou’s attacking system could elevate his game further. Reuniting with Tonali, with whom he shared a successful period at Milan before the midfielder’s move to Newcastle, would add an emotional element to the transfer. The pair’s on-field chemistry was evident during their time together, and Tottenham fans would relish the prospect of seeing them link up again.

From AC Milan’s perspective, selling Leao would provide crucial funds for reinvestment. The club has been active in the transfer market, targeting younger talents to build for the future. A sale worth €80 million would allow them to strengthen multiple positions, potentially easing the blow of losing their star winger. However, the decision ultimately rests on whether Leao pushes for the move and if Tottenham meet the valuation.

As the story unfolds, CM Tottenham rushing for Leao as Portuguese star eyes re-uniting with Tonali remains a hot topic among football analysts. The dynamics of the transfer, involving player preferences, club negotiations, and financial considerations, make it a compelling narrative.
